Bible Time

Hannah Kate and I do Bible Time every morning. When we worshiped with the congregation at Elizabethton, we were very blessed to have excellent examples of Christian parents and they were kind enough to share with us the things they did in their homes to teach their children. I am thankful for their Biblical example to us and that we are doing Bible Time with Hannah Kate already. We started doing this with her in June in her bouncy seat. Once she was able to sit in the Bumbo a little better, I started putting her in there to work on her trunk strength while doing Bible time! (It's also handy that it has a tray!) She has LOVED Bible time from the very beginning. We have built up the amount of time as we go, so we started out with just a few minutes, a couple of songs and now do lots of different songs for 15-20 minutes (maybe? I am not sure exactly how long it lasts!)
Since Hannah Kate had to wait so long to attend her Bible class on Sundays and Wednesdays, Aunt Jana (who is also one of her Wednesday night teachers) was sweet enough to gather some items that were extra from class for us to use at home. I have added some of our own items and songs to the mix and that is what we do every morning. Hannah Kate loves it!! This was also very helpful for when she started class because she already knew the songs and kind of what to expect. Both of these pictures of her have been from the past few months. The top picture is her Eric Carle Very Hungry Caterpillar that also works great as "Fuzzy Caterpillar" for that song. In the picture below, she has her daisy from Bible class to sing "Tell Me Little Daisy."

Okay, here are our Bible Time items in case anyone needs ideas on what to do at home with their little ones! (And sorry the pictures are sideways.....I can't fix them on here!) I was going to upload the list of songs and items, but I can't figure out how to do that on here, so if you want me to email it to you, just comment on this post or email me and I will be glad to send it!
Below:
1) Butterflies and caterpillar for "Fuzzy Caterpillar"
2) Sassy plastic photo album that has pictures of Hannah Kate, Daddy, and Mommy for "God Made Families," "We are Part of a Family," and "I Want to See."
3) bird (the black and yellow thing) that chirps for "God Made Me and All of You"
4) Bible for "The B-I-B-L-E," "I Love to Hold My Bible," "Pat the Bible," etc.
5) doll for "Jesus Loves the Little Babies"
6) Creation number cards found here for "Days of Creation Song"
7) Jesus Loves Me flip chart that I made for "Jesus Loves Me" (I typed the words for the cover and found clip art online of pictures of "Jesus," a Bible, kids, etc. then colored the pictures, cut them out and glued them on card stock and laminated them.)

These items are the items from Bible class that we were able to bring home. I am working on searching for items like these so we can replace and return these to Bible class.
1) Bee for "Busy Bee" and "The Bee Likes to Buzz"
2) Bible - the teachers had put stickers in the front of the sun, moon, stars, then used packing tape to tape several pages together to make it more like a board book type thing so the babies can turn the pages, and slobber on them etc. freely :) They also put stickers of animals, bugs, people that God made.
3) Daisy (with a mirror on the back) for "Tell Me Little Daisy" / mirror for "You're a Pretty Little Girl and God Loves You," "God Made the Round, Round Sun," "I Looked in My Mirror"
4) Rubber frog "Who Did Make the Froggy"
5) Rubber duck "God Made the Duck"
6) Felt finger puppet lady "Jesus Loves Me," "Jesus Loves the Little Children"

I hope this is helpful and that it will encourage you (if you aren't already) to start doing Bible time with your children - no matter what age! I would also love to know what you do at home if you have ideas to share! :)

Deuteronomy 6:6-9:
6And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
