Knowing God--Digging Deep in God's Word Bible Study

Ladies, the Digging Deep Bible Study is well underway for the study "Knowing God." Last month, we studied about how God protects & preserves His children as we looked at Exodus. Starting tomorrow, we will be studying about how God warns & instructs His children. Just reading the instructions for this month have me excited about this study. If you aren't already a part of this study, I hope you will jump in! Don't worry if you haven't done the previous studies, start studying today. I promise you will learn & grow spiritually!
Here is the assignment for October.

"October: God the Father Instructs & Warns His Children
Podcast Tuesday, October 22 7pm Central, 8pm Eastern

http://new.livestream.com/whcoc/for-women

Read Deuteronomy 4-18. Make a note each time you find the word “heart.” The instructive commandments are given, even in the Old Testament, as appeals from a Father to the hearts of the people. God has always wanted the hearts of His children.
Read Psalm 119 and highlight or make a note of each time the word “heart” is in the text.
Read Psalm 51 about the cleansing of a broken heart. Make a note of what is the acceptable sacrifice in this text.
Read the Proverbs (concise instructive material) and highlight each instance of the word “heart”.
Make a list of favorite proverbs to discuss on the podcast."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I started reading Deuteronomy today.  As I was highlighting each time "heart" was mentioned, I noticed so many times the words "teach" & "taught," so I decided to highlight that as well.  Just in chapters 4-6, I highlighted 9 verses about teaching & 6 with heart.  How important it is for us to be taught & to hide these things in our heart!  So many times in those verses about teaching, it's mentioned not only so Moses could teach the people but so they could teach their children & their children's children.  This made me think today about how I need to be more focused on teaching my children. God stressed the importance of that to Moses & His people in Deuteronomy & it is still so important today.
Why? Deuteronomy 6:12, "lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage." (& for us, the Lord who brought you out of the house of bondage of sin)
I hope you will join in on this study!  Let me know if you have any questions!
NICU Care Bags
Get ready to see this a few more times over the next month or so! This will be Micaiah's "project" in place of birthday gifts. His party will be mid-November & we would like to collect items by then.
*****
It's hard to believe, but Micaiah's first birthday is fast approaching! We spent last Thanksgiving in the hospital thankful for the blessing of our new baby but wishing we were home. In celebration of Micaiah's birthday, we would like to make treat bags to take to the NICU for families to receive on Thanksgiving Day. If you would like to help, please see the list below.
Our goal is to make 24 bags-enough for each family.  We are telling you early so we will have plenty of time to find items on sale & stock up! Thanks in advance!
NICU Care Bag Ideas:
Small hand sanitizers & lotions
Small notebooks & pens
Chapstick
Little lovey blankets (that moms can leave their scent on & leave with baby)
Knit or crochet hats (I have patterns)
Receiving blankets
Small knit or crochet blankets (I have patterns)
Hannah Kate-31 Months Old
Hannah Kate-31 Months Old
Clothing Size: 2T (some 3T shirts)
Diaper Size: 5 or 2T Easy-Ups (only during bedtime or when we are out somewhere! Whoo hoo!)
Shoe Size: 7
~Hannah Kate is at a standstill on the potty training.  PTP messed us up a bit because we had her in a pull-up & didn't take her as often. We will get there eventually.
~She is all about her baby dolls.  The baby she sleeps with is "pink baby."  If you ask what a baby doll's name is, she usually responds with "baby," "Karlee," or "Riley." (Riley is a baby at our congregation.)  She loves to rock them, "pet" them (pat), feed them, hold their paci in, & cover with a blanket.  I keep telling her she will be a good mommy one day!
~She says "scared" & "sad" & they usually sound the same.
~Even though she cried quite a bit going to her class at PTP, she asks to go all of the time.
~A few times, she has gotten my nursing cover & put it on so she can "feed" her baby. She holds the baby under the cover in the right position & everything.
~She often asks to "take my picture made" or "take for a walk."
~She enjoys stickers, coloring, checking the garden, playing with her babies, playing outside, going to Nana & Papa's ("& I will say, 'Hey Papa did you want to get me some ice cream?' Yes!"), & going to the library.
~She can sing almost all of the Old Testament books. She gets hung up around Jeremiah. She also knows almost all of the New Testament. She is a whiz at her memory verses lately. She has most recently done Matthew 6:33 "seek ye first the kingdom of God & his righteousness & all these things shall be added unto you (she adds "singing alle-lu-alle-lu-yah!") & Psalm 119:105 "thy word is a lamp unto my feet & a light unto my path."
Micaiah-9 Months Old
I am wondering if I will ever get Micaiah's monthly update done on time.....PTP really threw me off this month (er...last month...).
Micaiah~9 Months
Diaper Size: 3 Pampers, medium cloth
Clothing Size: 6-9 months, some 9-12 months but they are big
9 Month Doctor Visit was September 4th
Weight: 18 lbs 7 oz (14th %)
Length: 27.75 in (26th %)
Head Circumference: 44 cm (13th %)
Fun Facts:
~He is adorable!
~He is the fastest army crawler I've ever seen.  He especially enjoys crawling to the toilets-YUCK!
~He has started pulling up on & sitting up on his knees (not actually standing yet).
~He can now sit up all by himself!  He was SO proud of himself the first few times (of course, we were cheering for him)!
~He loves to put things in his mouth!
~He has 8 teeth.
~He is still waking up twice in the night to eat-on a good night, he will go longer & wake up once.
~He takes a morning & afternoon nap, but if we go somewhere in the morning he is okay if it's a short nap or if he misses it.
~He does great in the Ergo carrier while we are at the store.
~He babbles dada, baba......only "mama" when he is crying hard.
Things Micaiah LOVES:
~Laughing at Hannah Kate-when she is swinging, he laughs when she comes towards him.
~EATING! He eats 5-6 ounces of food at a time (I usually feed him food once a day-depending on our schedule).  He has not eaten anything new since last month.
~People talking to or smiling at him.
~Having his picture made. As soon as he sees the phone or camera brought up to take a picture, he starts smiling!
Things Micaiah Does Not Love:
~When the food runs out
~Having things taken out of his hand (paper or tissues that he is trying to eat, etc.).  I remembered one day that Mrs. Ali says, "May I have that please?" & sticks her hand out to take the toys in Bible class.  So, I did it, & he gave it to me & smiled!  That is a handy trick to know.  Ha!
Trying to eat the sticker on his shirt
This is to prove that he DOES cry sometimes!
